Impact strategy
Augmented Intelligence
The social and business impact of the AI center activity is based on the definition, study and application of innovative human-centred Artificial Intelligence techniques to enhance and improve human decision-making, problem solving and implementation of complex tasks through cooperative autonomous systems that amplify and extend human capabilities.
In order to reach these achievements, the center research activities focus on:
- the study and creation of foundation models of AI
- the complexity of the interaction between humans and AI
- the new forms of cooperative AI
- the definition of solutions to problems related to the ethical and sustainable use of AI
These lines of research are supported by 9 research units that cover a wide spectrum of knowledge and skills: machine learning, natural language processing, dialogue technologies, speech recognition, human-computer interaction, computer vision, multi-modal perception, neuro-symbolic techniques, data and knowledge representation and reasoning, data and process intelligence, neuro-informatics, cooperative and social Artificial Intelligence.
Collaboration with national and international research and business organisations in numerous PNRR and EU projects is a fundamental component of the strategy to add value and impact to the research outcome.
